Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Here’s your chance to win $2,000 while gaining academic credit!

In GG465: Capstone Urban Sustainability Project (CUSP), you will work in a consultation team developing a proposal for our community partner, the City of Cambridge, Ontario. Through your experience in this course, you'll enhance your resume with skills including project management, written communication, graphic design, mapping, public speaking, research analysis and community engagement.

Projects differ each year and have included assessing downtown streetscape improvements, heritage mapping and repurposing places of worship.

At the end of the course, your team will compete in front of a panel of planning practitioners. You'll be adjudicated on the basis of your professional practice and cash prizes are awarded.

“The fact that our proposals were judged by planning professionals and we received their expert feedback was an amazing, real-life experience that I feel has prepared me as I apply for jobs after graduation.”

“My favourite part of the course was discovering the local community through multiple field trips.”
