Ivona Hideg is an Associate Professor of OB/HRM in the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. In her main area of research, Ivona examines issues surrounding diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace including gender, cultural, language, and socioeconomic status diversity. Her research has been published in top-tier refereed journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Psychological Science.
Her research has received numerous awards (e.g., Best Paper awards from the Academy of Management); has been featured in main media outlets (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Globe and Mail), and is funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research of Canada (SSHRC) and the Ontario Early Researcher Award. Ivona is also a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Management and Organizational Psychology Review (and she served previously on the Editorial Board of Emotion).
Ivona is also an enthusiastic teacher. She teaches Human Resource Management and a doctoral seminar on diversity and equality. She supervises a lab consisting of highly motivated and intellectually curious undergraduate and graduate students. She contributes to the community and engages in public speaking events at companies and communities (including youth outreach initiatives at high schools) and always welcome new collaborators, partnerships, and students!
Her research is dedicated to advancing the knowledge in two important areas in contemporary workplace management: (1) issues surrounding gender and cultural diversity and equality in the workplace, and (2) issues surrounding the management of emotions in workplace interactions and in particular cultural influences on the effect of emotions.
Ivona leads and supervises Emotions, Diversity, and Gender Equity (EDGE) lab consisting of graduate and undergraduate students.
