Third-Year Economics with Minors in Psychology, and Women and Gender Studies
Richmond Hill, Ontario
I chose Laurier because of its amazing community! Thinking back to when I toured Laurier for the first time, I was blown away by how small and tight-knit the community was. I was amazed by how everyone seemed to know someone on campus and that there was always a smiling face no matter where you were. Laurier showed me nothing but love and quickly become my home away from home.
In my first year at Laurier I made it my mission to get involved in some way with the university. I joined a committee called Peer Connect. This committee is all about raising awareness and ending the stigma associated with mental health. Our goal was to connect students with many resources as well as each other to ensure that no one felt alone or helpless. Next year, I am returning to the committee for a third year. As mentioned before, I am going to be participating for a second year during orientation week as an ice breaker. Something new that I am trying out this year is joining a Hiring and Recruitment committee. One thing that I love about Laurier is our countless opportunities to get involved. No matter what your interests are there is definitely a club or committee here filled with people that share similar interests!
Deciding to be a Golden Hawk was the best decision I ever made and Laurier has become a huge part of my life. It has taught me so much both inside and outside of the lecture halls. Laurier is a great community and I am so happy that you decided to join it by becoming a Golden Hawk.
