Abderrahman Beggar holds a PhD in Romance Studies with a specialization in Media Discourse (University of Paris-Sorbonne). He also graduated from the International Academy of Diplomacy and the Centre of Diplomatic and Strategic Studies. Some of his works are translated into Arabic, English, and Spanish. Numerous reviews and critics of Beggar’s work were published in popular media as well as in academic journals such as: Voix Plurielles. Journal of the Association of Professors of French at Canadian Universities and Colleges; University of Toronto Quarterly; New Zealand Journal of French Studies; Revista de critica literaria latinoamericana; International Journal of Francophone Studies; Points. Langues, literatures, civilisations des pays francophones; Research in African literatures; Postcolonial Text; Symposium: a quarterly journal in Modern Literature; Studi canadense; Peace Review; Third World Review; Contemporary Sociology; The Americas and Ivorian Journal of Comparative Studies.
Beggar’s interests are: comparative literature (Arab, Francophone, and Hispanic), Latin American contemporary societies, and Media discourse.
He received Wilfrid Laurier University’s Merit Award on 2009 and 2012.
