CSI Laurier will offer two participation options: Symposium Conducting Participant and Symposium Attendee.

Registration opens, August 1, 2025
Registration Closes, October 19, 2025. 

• Symposium Conducting Participant - $165  
• Symposium Attendee (no conducting) - $80 

Symposium Conducting Participants will be notified of their acceptance on a rolling basis, and no later than October 26, 2025.

Conducting Participant Option ($165) 

As a Conducting Participant you will conduct and collaborate with the Laurier Wind Orchestra and Chamber ensembles receiving real-time feedback and guidance from clinicians. You will observe and participate in presentations and live-conducting sessions. All Conducting Participants are expected to purchase scores. In this role, your focus will be developing gestural vocabulary, shared communication between the conductor and ensemble, and honing ensemble leadership. You will enjoy approximately 20 minutes of individualized podium time. A conducting participant will be an enriching opportunity for current music educators, undergraduate and graduate music students. 

• Conducting Participants are selected through a screening process. Once registration opens, interested individuals will complete the application and upload a CV/Resume and a shareable link to a 10-minute performance of a piece or movement.  
• CV/Resume- save as a PDF, save file name: last name-first name-CV (Grant-Skylar-CV)
• Possible video link formats (YouTube- unlisted, Drop Box, Google Drive, etc.) 
• Important: Update sharing permissions so that anyone with the link can review. 
• Conducting Participants will be notified of their status on a rolling basis, no later than Sunday, October 26, 2025.
• If not selected to conduct, the applicant will be offered the option to attend all events (see Symposium Attendee Option).

Symposium Attendee Option ($80) 

As a Symposium Attendee you will gain insight as an educator, a musician, and a conductor. In this role, you will not conduct the Laurier Wind Orchestra, but you will observe presentations and conducting sessions and engage in discussions. You will gain information to refine and develop your conducting and rehearsing skills; note taking, active participation, and self-reflection is highly encouraged. Purchasing scores of the selected repertoire is a great way to engage in the music-making and learning process. This is a wonderful opportunity for first-time conducting symposium attendees and individuals seeking to develop their skills (i.e., music educators, undergraduate music students, students looking into graduate conducting programs). 

• Attendee slots are open to all without requiring a video submission.
• Once registration opens, interested individuals will complete the application and upload a CV/Resume.
