I hold a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. As a trumpet player, I perform regularly with the Wellington Wind Symphony, the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, the Purpletones Rhythm and Blues Band, and Ebytown Brass. I also play occasionally with a variety of local ensembles, including Big Band Theory, the Stratford Symphony Orchestra, and Spiritus Ensemble.
I am a high school math teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board, where I have been heavily involved with leading and supporting extra-curricular music programs. I believe strongly in the importance of school music programs and community music ensembles. My teaching and performing work has extended into summer programs as well, having been on faculty at both Southampton Summer Music and the Grand River Blues Camp.
When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy spending time outdoors—camping, hiking, and cycling are some of my favorite ways to relax and recharge.
I feel incredibly privileged to teach, create and explore music alongside my students. As a teacher, I hope to give you the tools and strategies to achieve your musical goals. My aim is to set you up to be a lifelong learner and performer of music.
