Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received most of my academic training as a developmental psychologist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, Germany. After finishing my PhD at the Free University in Berlin, Germany, I spent a postdoctoral year at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Prior to joining Laurier, I was an Assistant Professor at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany.

My research interests lie in the area of moral development. I am particularly interested in the interplay of cognitive, emotional and personality development as it is related to matters of moral conduct and moral consciousness. Recent research projects focus on moral identity development in adolescence and adulthood and the development of positive moral emotions.
My research has been continuously funded by the German Research Foundation and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council through research grants and student scholarships. I welcome new graduate and honors students to my research lab at Laurier.
