Catherine is an associate professor of organizational behavior and human resource management at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, Wilfrid Laurier University.
Her research focuses on social comparison, leadership, emotions, job stress, interpersonal relationships, and team processes in organizations. She has published articles in leading academic journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and so on.
Catherine's research theme revolves around understanding social exchange relationships among employees and between leaders and members. As major part of this theme, she is interested in understanding the impact of positive and negative leadership styles on employees through multiple theoretical lenses.
Her second research area relates to leader-member exchanges and member-member exchanges with particular focus on social comparison.
The third research stream is in the area of employees’ well-being. This research broadly focuses on social exchange relationships with an emphasis on job stress (e.g., emotional exhaustion/ego depletion) and safety.
