Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received an MA from the University of Warsaw (where I also studied mathematics) in 1979 and a PhD from the University of Western Ontario in 1987. I have been at Wilfrid Laurier University since 1987. I was a visitor at Tel-Aviv University, Harvard University, University of Warsaw, Warsaw School of Economics, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ECARES) and University of Sydney.
My primary area of teaching and research is macroeconomics, in particular the microfoundations of sticky prices and menu cost models. My research focuses on the behaviour of prices, and of price setters, regular adjustment, distribution of price changes over time as well as on testing menu cost model. My papers were published in, among others, American Economic Review, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Economica, Economic Inquiry, Economic Letters and Ekonomista.
I am the (founding) editor of the Review of Economic Analysis (RofEA.org), an open access, general interest electronic journal, that has been appearing since 2009.
I serve as the Director of the International Centre for Economic Analysis (ICEAnet.org). In this role I am organizing the "After the Pandemic" conference series. The Covid-19 pandemic has been a singular event that affected health, economic situation and social cohesion around the world. The conference series is devoted to analyzing various aspects of the pandemic and their long-term consequences, with six conferences in the Fall of 2021 and at least six in Winter 2022.
In my spare time my favourite activity is mountain biking, mostly at the Hydrocut (now on an electrified bike) and latte art.
Macroeconomics, monetary theory, industrial organization, common currency, and transition.
