For years, Laurier has been a leader in entrepreneurship and social innovation education. As an Ashoka Changemaker Campus, Laurier is part of a global network of universities that support one another in making the world a better place. Our entrepreneurship and social innovation experience includes:
No matter what your area of focus is at Laurier, you can combine it with broader studies in the world of entrepreneurship. Start with an introductory course (typically in second year), and then by third year you can take ENTR300 and ENTR301, for example, where you'll experience the excitement of seeing your own startup ideas take shape in the real world.
Entrepreneurial opportunities are available at both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses.
Another way to experience innovation and entrepreneurship at Laurier is by enrolling in the Social Entrepreneurship Option at the Waterloo campus. Social Entrepreneurship allows you to identify the values and issues that you’re passionate about and learn the best business practices to create sustainable solutions. These can include starting your own business or venturing into "intrapreneurship," where you can work with or for a non-profit organization doing policy work.
Laurier’s own startup incubator, LaunchPad, available to students, alumni and community members at the Waterloo and Brantford campuses, provides support, mentorship and resources. Once you've tested your startup idea in our innovative curriculum, you can apply to participate in LaunchPad, located in the Communitech Data Hub in Waterloo and in the Market Darling Centre (MDC) on the Brantford Campus, to make your idea happen.
Participate in a Waterloo campus club:

These courses are designed to give you the skills to identify opportunities, evaluate their viability and acquire the skills to effectively set up, grow and manage a new venture.
Have an idea for a business? Completed one of the 200-level courses? Now you can take ENTR300: Business Model Creation, or SE300: Developing a Social Venture.
Continue pursuing your startup idea with electives and complementary course offerings. Apply to LaunchPad for the opportunity to discover, validate and launch an innovative new venture.
