Souvankham Thammavongsa, an instructor in the English program at Laurier’s Brantford campus, won the 2020 Scotiabank Giller Prize for her short story collection, How to Pronounce Knife.
Bruce Gillespie, an associate professor and coordinator of Laurier’s Digital Media and Journalism program, received a Minister’s Award of Excellence for his work keeping Laurier’s Brantford campus connected through a regular podcast, One Market.
Richelle Monaghan was recognized with a Sam Drogo Technology in the Classroom Award for her innovative use of technology to engage undergraduate students studying Human Anatomy and Physiology.
Brantford is approximately a one-hour drive along the QEW and Hwy. 403 from Toronto and the Niagara region. The city has a population of over 97,000 and feels like a small-town community with big-city amenities.
