Since its inception in 2000, the Canada Research Chairs Program has aided Canadian universities by increasing their research and training capacities to ensure Canada’s ability to compete internationally in varied areas of study. Currently, two Lazaridis School researchers hold Canada Research Chairs

• Canada Research Chair in Financial Markets (tier 2), Andriy Shkilko (Business, Finance).
• Canada Research Chair in Corporate Governance, Daniel Waeger (Business, Policy).

Sarah Wilner (Business, Marketing).

Canada’s first Chair in Brand Communication was established in 2011 with an investment of $1.9 million by 45 leading Canadian brands and brand marketing professionals to establish Laurier as a national centre for brand education.

Mary Kelly (Business, Finance).

Established in July 1999, the Chair in Insurance is responsible for developing courses that promote the development of graduates for future employment in the property and casualty insurance industry. As a focal point for the property and casualty insurance industry in Canada, the chair conducts research in insurance and risk management and is responsible for helping raise the profile of the industry among students as well as in the broader community.

Nicole Coviello (Business, Marketing)

The Lazaridis Chair of International Entrepreneurship and Innovation was established in 2020 and is funded by the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises.  This Chair is the first of its kind at Laurier, mandated to provide leadership in the development of a research program on the growth and internationalization of scaling firms.

This fellowship is made possible with a generous gift from Grant Thornton LLP.  The fellowship allows one professor to pursue research in accounting and to instruct students in the theoretical nuances and practical skills of this field.

Darren Henderson (Business, Accounting).

This fellowship is made possible by the William Birchall Foundation. The William Birchall Foundation Fellow will pursue research in finance and instruct students in the theoretical nuances and practical skills of the accounting field.

The Centre for Supply Chain Management facilitates and coordinates research in supply chain management. It ensures regular and useful communication between researchers and practitioners, including strategic decision makers, ensuring that research findings are disseminated in a timely fashion to those who can use them.

The Co-operators Centre for Business and Sustainability serves as a catalyst to bring together faculty researchers, students and leaders in industry and civil society to build capacity for progressive socially and environmentally engaged management practice.

The CPA Ontario Centre for Capital Markets and Behavioural Decision Making has been established to promote excellence in research and teaching, and to encourage knowledge development in accounting education and practice. Its vision is to enhance the scholarly activities of accounting related faculty and to foster the development of the highest quality accounting graduates. The centre supports the scholarly activities and research efforts of Laurier accounting-related faculty and builds upon the university's record of producing highly successful graduates.

The Financial Services Research Centre promotes research on Canadian capital markets and financial institutions. Its mission is to foster interaction among faculty and students interested in financial research, facilitate interdisciplinary research, and forge ties with governments and private sector organizations.

The Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis is an international association of academic and professional economists that encourages both applied and theoretical research, creating a public forum for discussion of current economic issues.

The Lazaridis Institute for Management of Technology Enterprises enhances Laurier's business programs and supports the growth of a globally competitive technology industry in Canada.
